(Charlottesville, VA) The Virginia Festival of the Book is back and better than ever! This year, the festival will be held from March 20-24, 2024, promising five days of literary conversations and lively parties with locally and nationally renowned authors.
The festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and to mark this special occasion, they are hosting the Wordy Thirty Anniversary Party, featuring food, drinks, dancing, and lively conversations with fellow book lovers.
Festival Activities
Most of the events are free and open to the public. A wide range of genres will be featured, including:

- Fiction
- Memoir and Bio
- Non-fiction
- Partner
- Poetry
In addition to the main events, the festival is offering a range of activities, including the 30th Anniversary Kickoff: ’90s Rooftop Party, featuring pop culture critic and author Rob Harvilla. This event will be on March 20, 2024.
There is also the opportunity to purchase limited edition Virginia Festival of the Book t-shirts featuring the 30th-anniversary poster art designed by Kristy Heilenday.

There are a few other ways you can get involved in the festival. Note that this year’s festival is next week, so there is likely not time this year to get involved in any of these ways.
However, bookmark the page so you can get involved next year! Next year’s festival will take place March 19 – 23, 2025.
Volunteer
The festival is calling for volunteers to be a part of this literary extravaganza. Volunteers will have the opportunity to take on various roles and responsibilities, such as author escort, site coordinator, and info desk receptionist.
In exchange, volunteers will receive exclusive swag and invitations to the festival’s biggest parties of the year.
